TRANSPORTATION
To understand the critical importance of transportation sector resilience. Do Ghana’s Planners care about how “critical” a roadway segment is in terms of usage, availability of Alternatives, equity impacts, and a host of other factors related to the services the route provides? However, when making investments to improve the resilience of a roadway segment to various risks, do planners also care about the amount and types of risk to which the segment is exposed?
DRNGhana questions are indication and attention to the Transportation Ministry sector that the need for more work to be done in implementing systematic resilience-based approaches in Ghana’s surface transportation.
In practice, resilience investments involve either identifying and measuring risk or protecting existing transportation system elements from identified risks. These risks are typically environmental, although other risks, such as to cyber security or public health, are sometimes considered. DRNGhana is partnering with experts and Stakeholders to enact resilience through (1) integrating resilience and durability into transport agency’s practices, (2) using available tools and resources to assess the vulnerability and risk of transportation projects or systems, and (3) deploying a resilience solution and monitoring performance.
