United Nations Commission of Status of Women -UNCSW 2020 Conference New York USA; DRNGhana Founder And Executive Director Victor K. A. Foli - Keynote Speaker, “Resilient Perspective - Women In Agriculture"

 

DRNGhana and it’s International Partners namely: International Family Development Institute and Edfu Foundation USA attends United Nations Commission of Status of Women -UNCSW 2020 and organize four parallel events at United Nations Headquarters New York, USA. DRN(Disaster Resilience Network)Ghana, over the past ten to eleven years, invested its resources in complimentary work of NADMO, UNDRR and other sister agencies like UNDP. DRNGhana has consistently provided reports on community level disaster profiling towards mitigation and building resilience on it’s social media handles thereby, pioneering sustainable developments in the area of independent resilient products

towards more individualized and therefore sustainable management of disasters, especially those that are most consequential to households, thus directly affecting individual livelihood sustenance.

 

The UNCSW64 is a platform where Global Minds share ideation, policies and financing towards United Nations Gender Equality, women and girls empowerment Global Agenda 2030. It is also a very relevant place for knowledge upgrade, and formation of networks and regional groupings for more effective implementations and deployment of the landmark outcome framework that will be adopted. We firmly endorse DRN, for any resourcing, administrative support required in facilitating their participation in the UNCSW64 successfully.

 

Collaboration between, The International Institute and Family Development INC. and its Partners agree to work in cooperation and collaboration with Disaster Resilience Network Ghana – DRNGhana on the following engagements, •UNCSW 64 Parallel Event And The Disaster Resiliency Retreat and Agriculture Development Conference in Accra, Ghana. Specifically each events output will be to create business opportunities and partnerships to create a Ghana -Diaspora Emergency Management Trust Fund (DEMTF). DRNGhana and It’s International Partners will work with the Trust Fund for the sole purpose of  funding emergency management projects across the sector focusing on community resilience, disaster recovery via Agriculture  cold storage and the installation of a manufacturing facility for produce transformation to aid  Agriculture-environmental employment opportunities for women and youth.

In 2020, the global community marked the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and adoption of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action (1995). A five-year milestone was reached towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of  2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 2020 was also therefore a pivotal year for the accelerated realization of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls, everywhere. And, particularly, with indigenous peoples around the globe, including Africans in the continent and aboard. On March 9th – 20th  2020, the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) hosted the NGO CSW64 Conference in New York, New York City at the United Nations Headquarters Establishment.

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), it was established by Council resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946. At the United Nations Commission on The Status of Women-UNCSW Conference NGO CSW64 Platform; Victor K. A. Foli -Founder and Chief Executive Officer Of Disaster Resilience Network Ghana – DRNGhana was invited to speak on the TOPIC: Women In Agriculture: The Resilience Perspectives. (The Sad Note was that the UNCSW64 March 2020 Conference was Cancelled due to the COVID-19 Public Health Pandemic outbreak in New York, USA).

Victor K. A. Foli -Founder and Chief Executive Officer Of Disaster Resilience Network Ghana was invited to attend and participate in this conference to serve as a special delegate and speaker to represent Ghana and connect to the world’s most powerful women leaders in NGOs, CSOs, Heads Of States , Private And Government dignitaries on a mission to create a safe space celebrating the economic development and resilience of African women.

EdFu Foundation Inc, in collaboration with The International Institute of Family Development, The Nubia Initiative, And ECOWAS WOMEN are honored to invite Victor K. A. Foli -Founder and Chief Executive Officer Of Disaster Resilience Network Ghana as a panelist to the organized Parallel Event entitled ; “Recovering from Disasters and Building Community  Resilience through Women’s Agro Enterprise Development”. The event was designed to bring leaders from the African Diaspora together on a global level discussed improving the social welfare and health of women, girls and children in Africa and the diaspora through disaster preparation, planning and resilience building; with a focus on agriculture development via cold storage, clean water agro-processing and manufacturing enterprise development.

 

DRN Ghana also joined another parallel CSW64 Brunch and Dialogue event, March 10th, 2020 as well as the Social Networking  and Women of Impact Awards Ceremony held in Manhattan, NY March 13th, 2020 where we will be discussing the Status of Women in Ghana and the Diaspora. This session main focus was on the review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration Platform for Action and the outcomes of the 23rd special session of the General Assembly.
